Do Connected Locking smart lock systems require a specific door handle?

No – our smart lock systems can be fitted straight onto the door and some act like the handles themselves, so they don’t require a door handle on the application. This is why they are ideal for lockers, cabinets and office furniture.

What are the different types of smart lock systems and how do they work?

We offer three different types of smart lock systems:

Access Code Managed locks – these locks allow you to generate codes online which can then be inputted into the lock. The new code immediately replaces the old code that was assigned to it by the previous user.

App Managed locks – using an app, you add users and assign the locks to them, which they can then access using an allocated RFID card.

Live Web Managed locks – these locks are ideal for those who need real-time control of their locks. You can control and monitor your locks through a secure portal and can assign users to locks all in one place.

Do smart lock systems work without Wi-Fi?

Yes – some of our smart locking systems do not require an internet connection in order to operate them. Our Access Code Managed smart locks, for example, help you avoid complex networking and connection issues and also remove the costly Wi-Fi installation.

Some smart locks have some extra functionality to them so even though the mechanism is similar, smart locks can be controlled remotely through an app or a website. This reduces time and costs by creating a seamless experience for both you and the user. Electronic locks, such as digital combination locks, still require manual access by the user such as the user typing in the code into the lock, but it doesn’t require a key.

Do smart locks come with keys?

Yes – some of our locks can be accessed with a manual key, for maintenance or for the user to gain immediate access.

Are smart lock systems safe?

Yes – just like with a traditional lock, smart locks are very safe and secure, providing single use codes to the application. As with most locks, there are some risks to owning a smart lock. Contact us today if you’d like to find out more about locks for your application.
